CASA GRANDE, ARIZ.- Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy and Elite teams have another soccer-packed weekend coming up as they compete in the final round of Generation Adidas Cup Qualifying and the SC del Sol President’s Day Tournament, respectively.
After taking the SC del Sol Desert Classic Tournament by storm last week, the RSL-AZ Elite U-16 team will be back on the pitch this weekend to participate in the 37th Annual SC del Sol President’s Day Tournament. Joining them in the tournament will be the RSL-AZ Elite U-18 and U-15 teams.
RSL-AZ teams will be looking to go all the way this year, after RSL-AZ Elite U-17s lost to Next Gen USA in the final of last year’s tournament. The team from New Jersey returned to Grande Sports World again this year for a mini training camp before their President’s Day Tournament campaign.
Over in Carson, California, the RSL-AZ Academy U-15/16 will be participating in the second and final round of the GA Cup Qualifying.
The West Region bracket is shaping up to be a nail-biter, with just four points separating the first and fifth place. RSL, who currently sit in fifth place, will face off against the first place LA Galaxy (1-0-2(2 – PK wins)), the Portland Timbers (1-1-1) and Seattle Sounders (0-2-1) this weekend, and need to finish among the top two spots in order qualify for the Championship Division and compete against international competition in Dallas, TX in March.
