SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-17 started off the 2015 Arizona State League season with a big win Saturday, taking down Sereno West Chelsea White by a score of 4-1.

The 17s wasted no time getting started, with Jesus “Chuy” Garcia netting a goal in the opening minute of the game to propel the Claret-and-Cobalt to an early 1-0 lead.

Sereno equalized at the quarter hour mark, striking on the counter to level the game at one goal each. In the 33rd minute, “Chuy” added an assist to his resume as he set up Alex Vedamanikam for a goal to put RSL-AZ back into the lead.

Two minutes before half time, Vedamanikam burst through the Sereno back line on the dribble and chipped the keeper to double the 17’s lead before the break.

Late in the second half, Vedamanikam sealed both the result and his hat trick when he rounded the keeper and tapped home into an open goal for the 4-1 win.

RSL-AZ Elite U-17 take on United Latinos Real Madrid and Tucson Soccer Academy Red next with their eyes on two more wins and inching closer to promotion into Division 1 for next season.
