Academy Soccer Recap: RSL-AZ sweep new-look Galaxy in LA

CARSON, Calif. – In the first clash of the 2015-16 USSDA season between Southwest Division powers Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy and LA Galaxy, it was the Claret-and-Cobalt who made a statement at the StubHub Center, sweeping the Galaxy with a pair of huge road wins.

Eyes from around the Development Academy were focused on this matchup featuring two of the country’s top teams, RSL-AZ and the new-look LA Galaxy after the closure of the Chivas USA academy.

In the opening game on Sunday between the 18s, a pair of first half goals from David Ramos and Elijah Rice proved to be the difference as RSL-AZ U-17/18 secured a 2-0 win over the Galaxy.

In the second half of Sunday’s doubleheader, RSL-AZ U-15/16 secured their biggest win of the young season, taking home a 4-1 win over the Galaxy 16s. Ricardo Navarro, Carlos Jimenez, Aristotle Zarris and Camilo Rodriguez provided the goals for RSL-AZ.

The academy teams once again have the weekend off for rest and recovery before heading back out on the road next week for a pair of games against Arsenal FC.
