CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – In their first official game together as a team, Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy U-15/16 were forced to settle for a single point in a 1-1 draw with Pateadores Soccer Club at Grande Sports World.

Camilo Rodriguez opened the scoring in the second half after a bad giveaway in the back for the 1-0 RSL-AZ lead before Pats’ Kyle Holcomb leveled the game just moments later.

Nestor Serrano scored what looked to be the go-ahead goal off a corner kick but the referee ruled that an offside player had impaired the keeper’s vision. Pateadores were awarded a penalty kick only a few minutes later but David Preys was able to make the save to preserve the 1-1 draw.

In the second half of the U-15/16 doubleheader on Sunday, the Claret-and-Cobalt were able to showcase their true ability as they crushed Pateadores in a 5-0 win.
