SAN DIEGO – With a 1-1 draw on the road against the San Diego Surf in the last game of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy regular season, Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy U-15/16 officially became the first team in Academy history to fail to qualify for the USSDA playoffs.
Following a scoreless first half of play, Josh Drack thrust RSL-AZ U-15/16 into the lead with a wonder strike from 35 yards out. The Surf struck back only moments later, however, earning a penalty kick that was converted by Vardhin Manoj to knock the Claret-and-Cobalt out of the playoff race.
