CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy U-17/18 got a measure of revenge Saturday as they trounced the LA Galaxy by a score of 6-1 at Grande Sports World, helping to begin the healing process after last season’s 2-0 loss at the hands of the Galaxy in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-15/16 National Championship game.
Edgar Duran and Brooks Lennon each notched a brace in the win while Damian German and Diego “Diablo” Silva each added a goal of their own. A late giveaway and foul in the box gifted the Galaxy a penalty kick that Ryo Fujii converted for a consolation goal.
In the second half of the day’s action, RSL-AZ U-15/16 played out a hard fought scoreless draw against the Galaxy 16s. Juan Mora had the best chance of the game on a free kick in the first half, but outside of that both teams struggled to generate scoring opportunities throughout the 80 minutes of play.
