PHOENIX – Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite earned mixed results in Arizona State League play over the weekend, with the 16s suffering a loss against Excel Soccer Academy and the 17s finding their stride in a win against a tough SC Del Sol team.
Excel Soccer Academy 1-0 Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-16
At Scottsdale Sports Complex, RSL-AZ Elite U-16 struggled early and often against Excel Soccer Academy. Excel took advantage from the start and netted an early goal against the Claret-and-Cobalt for the 1-0 lead. The Elites struggled on the attacking end and couldn’t find a goal of their own in the 1-0 loss.
Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-17 2-0 SC Del Sol
While the 16s struggled, RSL-AZ Elite U-17 thrived in their match against SC Del Sol at Fear Farm Sports Complex. Facing a very strong Del Sol team, Geoffrey Schuchardt and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia each netted goals to get their names on the score sheet en route to an impressive 2-0 win.
