PHOENIX – For the second consecutive weekend, Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-18 defeated Barcelona AZ, this time in Arizona State League competition by a score of 3-0, while the Elite U-17s were rained out before taking the field against Sereno.

Following their group stage win over Barcelona AZ at the Valparaiso United Invitational Tournament, RSL-AZ Elite U-18 entered their State League game against Barcelona brimming with confidence.
Their confidence paid off on the pitch, with dominant play from the Claret-and-Cobalt in all aspects of the game, controlling possession and consistently pressuring the Barcelona goal.
Goals from Andres Lopez, Joel Kazhila and Luis Mejia secured the win for RSL-AZ, with Kazhila scoring on a counter attack following a corner, sprinting 90 yards up field to get the goal.
With the win, RSL-AZ Elite U-18 claim the top spot in the Arizona State League U-18 Division 2 table, tied with Arizona Hammers on six points but ahead on goal difference.
Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-17 vs. Sereno
RSL-AZ Elite U-17 versus Sereno was rained out due to severe weather in the Phoenix area. The Claret-and-Cobalt remain one of three teams with perfect records in Arizona State League U-17 Division 1 along with Tucson Soccer Academy and Sereno.
Arizona State League play resumes on Saturday, October 4 with Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-16 taking on United Latinos at 12:55 p.m. on Quail Run Sports Complex Field 4, followed by Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-18 versus CCV Stars at 3:55 p.m. on Quail Run Sports Complex Field 3.
Real Salt Lake-Arizona Elite U-17 cap off the weekend’s slate of games on Sunday, October 5 at 12:50 p.m. on Rose Mofford Sports Complex Field 3 against AZ Arsenal.
