CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy head out on their first road trip of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season while the Elites stay in-state for the opening fixtures of Arizona State League play this weekend

RSL-AZ U-15/16 and U-17/18 head to Irvine this weekend for a pair of match-ups against Pateadores and Strikers FC.

Last season, RSL-AZ U-15/16 and U-17/18 fell to Pateadores on the road 0-1 and 3-4, respectively, while both teams were able to defeat Strikers FC in California.

RSL-AZ U-15/16 faced Strikers a second time in California in the semifinals of the USSDA playoffs, where the Claret-and-Cobalt won convincingly, 5-1.

Last season in Arizona State League play, both RSL-AZ Elite U-16 and U-18 impressed, with the U-16s winning their age group and the U-18s taking home second place. As a result of the 16’s first place finish last year, RSL-AZ Elite U-17 will play in Division 1 of State League this season.

In the opening weekend of fixtures, RSL-AZ Elite U-16 take on Phoenix Premier FC, U-17 face off against Legacy, and U-18 play Valparaiso United, with all three matches taking place at the Reach 11 Sports Complex.
