CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Real Salt Lake Reserves were able to take only one point from their last two games following a 5-2 loss against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and a 2-2 draw on the road against the Colorado Rapids.
In the 8th minute against Pittsburgh, Sebastian “Bofo” Saucedo, the seventh Grande Sports Academy player to sign with RSL, slotted home a through ball from Luis Gil to score in his first official match as a member of the Claret-and-Cobalt.
Despite Saucedo’s contribution, RSL fell to the Riverhounds by a score of 5-2, with a 4th minute red card for Aaron Maund and a total of three penalty kicks for Pittsburgh providing the difference in the game.
Also in the Starting XI were GSA alumni Lalo Fernandez and Carlos Salcedo, while Justen Glad, Adolfo “Fito” Ovalle and Diego “Diablo” Silva all made appearances off the bench.
In Colorado, a second half comeback led by two goals from GSA alum Benji Lopez fueled a 2-2 draw for the RSL Reserves. Lopez scored his first in the 57th minute on a tap in, while in the 63rd minute Lopez scored the equalizer off a quick free kick provided by “Bofo” Saucedo.
Glad, Saucedo, Lopez, and Erik Holt all started the match, while Fernandez, Ovalle, and Jose Hernandez all made appearances off the bench in the draw.
The Real Salt Lake Reserves will return to action on Wednesday, Aug. 27 when they travel to Carson, California to take on LA Galaxy II at the StubHub Center at 4:00 pm.
