SANDY, Utah – Grande Sports Academy’s Sebastian Saucedo has signed a Homegrown Player contract with Real Salt Lake, becoming the 13th player in academy history to sign a professional contract.
“Bofo” Saucedo, from Park City, Utah, joined Grande Sports Academy at the beginning of the 2012-13 U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, helping Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy U-15/16 to the Development Academy Championship.
In the 2013-14 USSDA season, Saucedo earned West Conference Starting XI and Player of the Year honors en route to RSL-AZ U-15/16’s second straight Development Academy finals appearance.
In two years at the academy, “Bofo” scored 50 goals in 60 Development Academy games with the U-15/16 team. Saucedo scored five goals in four games at the U-17/18 level, including a hat trick in his U-17/18 debut against Real So Cal.
At the international level, Saucedo has played for the U.S. with the U-15 team and up, most recently starting in all three matches for the U-18 MNT at the 20th Lisbon International Tournament in June.
Saucedo will join fellow Grande Sports Academy alumni Lalo Fernandez, Carlos Salcedo, Benji Lopez, Jordan Allen and Justen Glad as current members of Real Salt Lake, becoming the seventh overall GSA player to sign a Homegrown Player contract with the club.
