Weekend Soccer Preview: RSL-AZ U-15/16 and U-17/18 go north for their final weekend of the regular season

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Only two matches remain in Real Salt Lake-Arizona’s US Soccer Development Academy regular season and the U-15/16 and U-17/18 teams head to the Pacific Northwest to take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Portland Timbers. Both matches will be vitally important, with each team seeking a win in order to clinch the top seed in the Western Conference for the first time ever.

On Saturday, May 17, RSL-AZ U-17/18 kick off at 12:00 pm at Perry Percy Stadium against Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-17/18, followed by the U-15/16 sides for each club kicking off at 2:30 pm.

The regular season concludes on Sunday, May 18, when RSL-AZ head to Oregon to face the Portland Timbers at the Timbers Training Facility. Real Salt Lake-AZ U-17/18 kick off at 12:00 pm, while the U-15/16s will once again follow at 2:30 pm.

Real Salt Lake-Arizona Head Coach Martin Vasquez stressed the importance of this final weekend of matchups, saying, “The biggest thing that we’re playing for is finishing the season strong, getting 20 wins with both groups. The main [goal] is winning our division. It’s a huge weekend for us and that adds up to coming back with twelve points.”

The RSL-AZ players will be looking to continue their good form against Portland and Vancouver, having taken ten of a possible twelve combined points against the two teams at Grande Sports World last season.
